Guitarweek History
1998-2008
Everyday there is something happening around here (Guitarweek)
and not everything that goes on is apparent, The website you see today is the
result of years and years of hard work and this will give you an idea...
Nov. 1998 through October of 1999 - The Diagrams you see at Guitarweek
were created and developed by Michael Mettura.
September 17th 1999 - Michael Mettura searches
for a Domain Name to use to sell Guitar Lessons and Guess what name was
left? The Selling lessons thing didn't work either.
October 12th 1999 - Guitarweek files a "Doing
Business as" Guitarweek - and Guitarweek is born.
November of 1999 - The website was first started and was
very Bad....... Teal background, everything on one page - and (ha ha) The
lessons were offered for sale. (too bad we can't show you this)
End of November 1999 - Out of frustration - All of basic
Diagrams and a few Tutorials are Placed on the site in Zip files and are
then Free...
December 2nd 1999 - In a haphazard attempt to market Guitarweek's
badly designed poor functioning website - A local paper picks up the story
for all to see (How embarrassing to remember)
February of 2001 - Guitarweek attempts to sell guitar strings...
November 1st of 2002 - Guitarweek is deleted
- Sad day at Guitarweek when our old host had a dispute with Guitarweek
over shopping cart many of you may have seen in the past that never worked
- The trial date was April 12th 2003. (We Lost)
November 4th of 2002 - Guitarweek Inc! - This is a big Step for us, We are
now an entity in Indianapolis Indiana. Screen shot of old Guitarweek
December 02, 2000 The
links in it don't work but you'll see how it used to be.
January 17th of 2003 - Guitarweek receives its first ever
donation from Shannon M. Moore of Van Nuys, California - This Verifies the
fact that someone likes what we are doing and she thanked us with a check.
Thanks again Shannon
September 1st of 2003 - Guitarweek moves once again to Jumpline.com
November of 2003 - Guitarweek is four years old - Nathan
V. out in Nevada gives us an MR-8 - A definite psychological milestone
and a great way to start out with year five ..............................
Thanks again Nathan!
November of 2004 - Guitarweek is now five years old.
January of 2005 - Guitarweek creates Members
Only section - We begin our archive of Flash Lessons...
January of 2006 - We started out the year close to 40
members with a slow increase in the rate that people become members.
Our goal is now to be self sufficient and to rapidly expand our
products and services.
August of 2006 - We start our 'newsletter' section
so people can keep up with what we are doing on a regular basis, This is also
helps us see the progress of the website as we rebuild most all of our lessons
and come out with new stuff.... We are getting huge...
September 8th 2007 - We crack the 'harmonic
minor' theory! Traditional theory (1 2 3b
4 5 6b 7) alters two places of the major scale
to come up with a harmonic minor scale, We have
found an enharmonic formula that alters one place of the major scale... (1
2 3 4 5# 6 7)...
March of 2007 - We lock down all the lessons and
make efforts to get more people to 'support' our organization, We also doubled
our registration fee from the 2005 fee of 4.95 up to 9.99. (later that day
we unlocked them but kept the upgraded fee)..
May 23rd 2007 - A historical day at Guitarweek when 'Grassy
Hill' donates five hundred dollars, We served 16,356 pages that day to
a few thousand visitors... (In the future we will be having a folk song contest
in honor of Grassy Hill)
There have been some up's and down's for me personally while building
this organization, I have learned alot throughout the whole ordeal and this
page represents some of the more memorable times for both me and the entity
I have created...
